The Hudson River School: American Scenery, Its Beauty and Magnificence

We will discuss the search for an American identity in art in the 19th century. In doing so, we will look at the influence of Romanticism and the Manifest Destiny on the Hudson River School landscapes. We will also discuss three themes in 19th century America: discovery, exploration and settlement.
Lectures in this series are free for TCA members and an $8 donation is suggested for general public attendance.
